Women’s Leadership Group Brings Guest to Speak to Students on Diversity and Leadership

By Sam Jones

TUSCALOOSA – Founding 31, an organization at The University of Alabama, invited university alumni to a meeting to talk about women’s rights and campus culture in Graves Hall.

ON April 12th, the group invited a list of panelists that have careers in education or social advocacy to lecture from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dr. Kathleen Cramer, former Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Blackburn Society Member, and Dr. G. Christine Taylor, Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion were two of those invited. The seminar was also free to all students of the university.

This lecture was held to discuss, and push the “Perspectives on Leadership” series, which focuses on the leadership of women at the University.

“I was very impressed by the leadership actions of the women on campus who want to make a difference to diversity at Alabama”, said Cramer.

Cramer also spoke on prevalent topics in society relating to women such as sexual assault, inequality, and the history of women at the university. This part of the lecture featured guests from the Panhellenic and the Women and Gender Resource Center.

The “Perspectives on Leadership” series is over for the semester, but the organization plans on saving the information for all students interested in the organization.
